Strengthening Cultural Ties Through Textile Heritage
The Ilocos Sur Hospitality And Related Establishment Professionals Association (ISHAREPA) proudly participated in the National Museum of the Philippines-Ilocos' insightful talk, "Links Between Abel-Iloko and Philippine Textile Weaving, and Mexican Textile Weaving Traditions," held on December 10, 2024 at the Old Carcel Museum Ilocos Regional Museum Complex.
The event, led by Dr. Amalia Ramirez, a distinguished Mexican professor and textile scholar, explored the shared heritage and deep connections between Filipino and Mexican weaving traditions. Highlights included Dr. Ramirez's reflections on her one-year fieldwork across weaving communities in the Philippines and Mexico, fostering a rich dialogue among participants during the open forum.
ISHAREPA values opportunities like this to celebrate and learn about our cultural heritage while collaborating with experts and stakeholders. Thank you, NMP-Ilocos, for reserving slots for our representatives and organizing this meaningful event!
